"When a group of Sudanese children discovered an unexploded grenade in the South Kordofan region of Sudan earlier this summer, they made a tragic mistake: They picked it up. The grenade exploded, killing nine children and wounding five. The dead ranged from 3 years old to 14 years old."
Chubby cheeks and missing limbs do not go together in my head.
Samaritan's Purse- you know, the folks who do the shoeboxes..they are working there to help those who need it and share the gospel.
Pray for workers. Pray for resources. Pray for access. Pray.
Give.
Search your heart, are you called to give?
Go.
Listen carefully. Are you one who is called to go?
Sounds uncomfortable, right?
Funny you should mention 'uncomfortable.' My new friend Renee is also doing 31 days. She posted this great quote from Francis Chan today,
“But God doesn’t call us to be comfortable. He calls us to trust Him so completely that we are unafraid to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if He doesn’t come through.” Francis Chan, Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God
The Compassion of Jesus
Matthew 9:35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”I'll echo Renee's benediction for this weekend: Go. Be uncomfortable. Trust God. Find that is He is trustworthy.
