God's (elusive?) will

WARNING: Very honest post ahead.
-----------------------------------------------
In the middle of a Christian culture asking. “How do I find God’s will for my life?” “What do you want me to do God?” The answer is clear. The will of God is for you and me to give our lives urgently and recklessly to making the gospel and the glory of God known among all peoples. The question, therefore, is not “Can we find God’s will?” The question is “Will we obey God’s will?”

The message of biblical Christianity is God loves me so that I might make him- his ways, his salvation, his glory, and his greatness- known among all nations. God centers on himself, even in our salvation. Remember in Ezekiel: he saves us, not for our sake, but for the sake of his holy name. The most glorious reason you exist is for the proclamation of the glory of God to the ends of the world.

Joe and I are faced with a Big Decision (BD). Should we wait for a(nother) miraculous sign from God to let us know we should say 'Yes' to the BD? Or are we just shuffling our feet, knowing in our hearts that God has already made His will known? Or am I just leaning toward "yes" for my own reasons and God is actually trying to tell me "No" or "Not now" and I have my fingers in my ears? LALALALALA.

I have been reading George Muller's biography over the last few months. He, like me, had good and bad tendencies- good tendency: trusting that God can and will provide all we need; bad tendency: getting ahead of God because we are just so excited to do His work.

God's plan for George (and for me) had times of waiting and growing, not doing. God worked that out so George would be ready when it was time. God's time.

I know God has a plan. A good plan. And I know that the plan He has is one to prosper, to give a future and a hope. OOH! OOH! I KNOW SOMEONE WHO NEEDS A FUTURE AND A HOPE! Is it MY heart and MY home that will help provide that future and hope? Will I be Christ's hands and arms and hugs to This Person?

I know God sets the lonely in families. OOH! OOH! I know a lonely Person who needs a family. And, I HAVE a family!

I know God wants me to care for orphans and widows. Oh! Look- I have an orphan RIGHT HERE.

Adoption is obviously something God is into. He DOES that kind of thing. He COMMANDS us to do it. Adoption is a major theme in the gospel.

Please pray for us. Pray that God will draw us to HIM, and that our hearts would be quiet and good at listening to His still small voice. That we would be willing to WAIT on Him, having faith that He will answer.

Joce

Our family just received a referral for our son in China. I completely understand where you're coming from. It's tough to know God's timing, but His plea to us to care for orphans is clear. My family will be in prayer for your family. We've got a busy house too. 4 biological kids, one foster kid and 1 china-baby boy on the way. It's a crazy life and I couldn't be happier!!

Hey Joce! How very exciting! I;d check out St. Ignatius of Loyola's rules for discernment of spirits. Good stuff....http://moleski.net/cac/Rules_for_the_Discernment_of_Spirits this site is a summary.
I think another good rule of thumb is that if it is a decision having to be made quickly....don't rush! Sending prayers your way! What a beautiful family you have :)
